Uhh... hi. I am awake. Honest. My project partner at uni would be forgiven for not believing me, but I really am awake.

Thanks to the 30-odd that came to the event. You guys are awesome.

Thanks to these third parties for their assistance in making the event as successful as it was:
- Bendigo Party Hire (for tables! - these guys are awesome! Seriously!)
- 410Sqn Australian Air Force Cadets (for allowing us to hire their PA + projector. Many thanks!)
- Glenn Carter (for running tables around on Friday with his awesome trailer skills!)

Many more thanks to anyone who helped out in any way - from putting their rubbish in the bin as they packed up, to staying until we locked the hall after packup. A great big love to everyone!

Congratulations to our prize winners of the LAN'asplode Ultimate Tournament of Ultimate Gaming Supremacy:
1st - Rothaom, danced away with an uber nerf gun
2nd - MadSnakes, barrel rolled away with a slightly less uber nerf gun
3rd - FknCreg, flew out with a 6 shooter nerf gun

Other competition winners walked away with some coke (so we're poor, ok?): Morpha won Flatout and the sleeping bag race; Nyarlathotep won UT99 (no surprises there); Banladna won the nerf gun duel; Rothoam won C&C3 and BaboViolent2; Phobos scored highest on the quiz.

Simo has kindly put up a partial time lapse of the event. Remind yourself of the victorious event for years to come by watching this video daily.

That's all for now, and see you next LAN,

Tomorrow, only a day away
Thu, 25 Mar 10, 8:26:32 PM
Greetings.

Tomorrow evening shall commence the greatest event known to Bendigo. 7PM is the time you should make yourself present at Trades Hall.

We will be running a multi-round tournament throughout the event, featuring games from multiple genres and events on both nights. The overall winner gets a decent prize. Individual winners get something small.

There's still a couple of seats left, so if you have a friend that wants to come, there's still space! Invte them along, get them to register, I'll close the seating tomorrow morning some time to give you some time.

Rules are to be abided by at all times, just a reminder. They are a condition of entry.

And following are the usual pre-LAN reminders
UPDATE STEAM
OFFLINE MODE STEAM
UPDATE GAMES
ANTIVIRUS
DEFRAG
NO WHEELIE CHAIRS (unless you bring flooring to go underneath it)
ETC
ETC
ETC

SEE YOU THERE.

Greetings,

Firstly, the rules of attending the event have been slightly tweaked.

The event is this Friday. If you plan on bailing on us, make sure you unregsiter your seat. If you want to come, register up a seat. We added a few more last night, so you even have space to move around if you're not next to your friend!

We're starting at 7PM. Come earlier if you want, but you'll be expected to help (if stuff still needs doing). Come and go throughout the event as you please, but be awesome and stay both nights.

The cost of entry is $20, flat rate. Two hours or two days, $20.

See you there

After quite a long time, our headest of head admins has decided to step down, and will no longer be involved in the LAN to LAN runnings of Asplode.

I would like to say thanks for all the work over the years, and have fun doing whatever it is you do while not LANing.

Greetings!

Registrations for LAN'asplode v... whatever ... are now open.

The LAN is in two weekends time - March 26th-28th. We'll be starting late on the Friday, around 5 or 7PM; we'll let you know specifics closer to the date.

Cost of entry is $20.

Standard rules apply.

Registration on the seating plan is key.

We'll be having an ongoing tournament over the event over a variety of games - nothing too serious, just a bit of fun. Smacktard will be partially tied in to this. Exact details will be given at the event.

Do not count on the LAN'asplode store being open. We may have a few small things like lollies or coke, but anything more is unlikely.

That is all for now. Any questions, feel free to ask on our forums or reply to this email.

Peace out, bros.

For those of you who are on the member list of LAN'asplode, this is a heads up that the next LAN will be occuring on March 26th-28th.

Everyone with an account now has one invite, so feel free to invite another person along - on the condition that they're also as awesome as you are.

We will put up more details when we've organised more, but the date is now set in stone.

Wrapup
Thu, 8 Oct 09, 1:43:37 PM
Greetings!

Just a quick wrap up email from LAN'asplode on the weekend.

Firstly, thanks to Bendigo Party Hire for the tables, as usual.
Thanks to Atomic MPC Magazine and Intel for the cool Moore's Law TShirts. Intel doesn't know they've sponsored us, but I'm sure they don't care.

Congratulations to the following comp winners:
"HANDS UP IN THE AIR GAME NOT GIVING IN TO PEER PRESSURE" - Albert (although Phobos claims he didn't give in either). Both got an Intel shirt.
GRID Drift - 1st place Deadman, 2nd place Drewfus. Deadman won a cool little RC car.
HL2DM - 1st place Deadman, 2nd place Drewfus. Deadman won some coke and an intel shirt.
CSS GunGame - 1st place Wraith, who won a Nef Maverick Gun
Armagetron - 1st place Phobos, no idea what he won. It's missing from the list.

Lots of BF Pirates was played, and everyone enjoyed. Also a few other Large Organised Games, which were also enjoyed.

Then there were some smacktard games - Simo's list only specifies winrars for some of them, but regardless
Portal 'Still Alive' recitation thingy - Phobos
Dagger off - no idea.
Dress up as a pirate - I think it went to Wraith, who even coloured his face in with a texta.

Alas, my list of stuff doesn't have the rest of the comps and smacktard stuff on there. But it's not as if anyone is reading down to here anyway!

And lastly, the Most Playing Playa of the LAN award went to Drewfus, who was almost always playing games! He played in every comp, ever fun game, and some of the smacktard stuff. Bendigo LANs need more people like this.

If you have any comments/criticisms/etc, jump on to the Bendigo Gaming forums and leave us a note in the Feedback Thread

Thanks to everyone who helped out at the event - organisation was a bit lacking leading up due to various factors, so every bit of help at the event really is appreciated. Especially the select few that hang around to help packup afterwards!

Anyway, I have to go and play some Armagetron during this lecture, so it's time to shut up!

Asplode this weekend!
Mon, 28 Sep 09, 8:30:42 PM
Greetings!

It's now four days until LAN'asplode. We're relatively organised (The hall's booked. That's a good start, I suppose). We hope you're organised too. There's only 4 seats left on the site, so if you're wanting to go, register now. If you've already registered and are no longer planning on going, you should unregister.

Registrations and deregistrations will be open until Thursday evening at some point.

The cost for this event is a flat $20/person.

Doors will officially open at 5PM on Friday. If you come any earlier, you may be asked to help setup. The event will conclude sometime Sunday, most likely a bit earlier than usual.

You are reminded that the event runs for two nights - you are highly encouraged to stay for both, but you may come and go as you please.

Setup for this LAN will be tight - if you're free Friday afternoon, any help is appreciated. The plan at this stage is to begin set up around midday (Due to various important people working, coming up from Melbourne, being lazy etc). If you plan to come and help, letting us know beforehand would be awesome, but not essential.

A reminder again that there are rules - see the FAQ on the site to remind yourself of them if you're not familiar.

If possible, try to have any games that you might be interested in playing installed before the LAN, make sure your anti-virus is up to date and your computer clean, do a defrag and hash any files for DC++ (v0.750 is preferred!)

I'm led to believe that this is all I need to say, so see you there!

Oh hey everyone looking at this post.

Did you know LAN'asplode has an IRC channel where you can talk to us cool people? It's true!

Use XChat or the Firefox plugin ChatZilla. Both are free.

Connect to the server 'irc.gamesurge.net' (if you're feeling special, you can do this using '/server irc.gamesurge.net' in the main window thingy.

Then join #asplode ( /join #asplode )

Then talk. By typing stuff. And pressing enter. You can even '/nick your-name-here' and change your name!

Hey, that was simple, wasn't it? =D
